The first book in the Bible is called “Genesis.” This is a Greek word. It means “beginning.” But when the book was written, it was written in the Hebrew language. The Hebrew word for this book is “Beresith.” It also means “beginning.” Therefore, in the Hmong Bible we chose the word “Chivkeeb” which means “beginning” as the title for this book.
This book reveals that every thing that exists is created by God. It speaks about the creation of the heavens and the earth, the ocean, fish, animals, birds, and human beings. It speaks about the fall of man, the flood, the beginning of human languages, the calling of Abraham to be the father of faith and that Abraham’s family grew to be the nation of Israel.
